Superhero Dad

Publication date: May, 2015
Superhero Dad cover

Dad might not have a superhero mask or wear his pants outside his trousers, but his super snores can be heard a thousand miles away, he tells super jokes and can even make super-scary monsters go away at bedtime.

This vibrant, humorous and warmhearted celebration of all the incredible things a dad can do is a soon-to-be-classic book about the specialness of dad (and their superhero sons!).

There is a bundle of dad-related picture books this month, but this was the resounding favourite with my six-year-old tester. The everyday things this very ordinary father does are celebrated with great enthusiasm by his son, from making pancakes to playing knights and dragons. We particularly enjoyed the line: "And when I'm on his shoulders I am taller than the sky." Berger's illustrations burst with energy and the cut-out cover works a treat.
The Bookseller
Perfect for the forthcoming Father’s Day... I love this reflection on a Dad’s skills and attributes and how amazing they can seem to a child.

This is such a heart-warming and funny book about the relationship between Dads and their children, it has a lovely message at the end too that just melted my heart. The comic book style illustrations make the superhero feats all the more super with explosions of colours and stars. A perfect book for Dads to share with their children.
Acorn Book
Blazing with energy and saturated with love
Booklist
exuberance pitches the reader headlong into the book and the rhyming text and joyful rhythm continue to the end... loveable, warm and enchanting
Minerva Reads
Visual references to superhero comics and jokes at dad’s expense, as when he holds the tiny family dog over his head like a weight lifter, add to a playful portrait of mutual father-son devotion.
Publishers Weekly
